Terms of Service

This is a starting-point template, not legal advice. Replace the bracketed placeholders and have it reviewed by a qualified professional before publishing.

1. Who we are

Vinyl ("Vinyl", "we", "us") is operated by [Company legal name], [registered address]. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your purchase and use of the Vinyl desktop application (the "App") and any related services on this website. By buying a licence or using the App, you agree to these Terms.

2. Licence

Vinyl is sold as a one-time purchase (£29). Your purchase grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the App on up to three of your own devices at a time. You may move the licence between your own machines by deactivating a device and activating another.

You may not:

  • resell, sublicense, rent or redistribute the App or your licence key;
  • share your licence key publicly or with people outside your own use;
  • attempt to circumvent licensing, activation or device limits;
  • reverse-engineer the App except to the extent permitted by law.

3. Free trial

A free trial may be offered so you can evaluate the App before buying. The trial is provided "as is" and may include limitations. No account or payment is required to run the trial.

4. Payment

Purchases are processed by our payment provider, [Lemon Squeezy], who acts as merchant of record. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. Applicable taxes may be added at checkout.

5. Your content

The App runs locally on your device. Audio, artwork and videos you use or create with the App remain yours; we claim no ownership over them and, because processing happens on your machine, we do not receive them.

6. Updates

Your purchase includes updates to the version of Vinyl you bought. Future major versions may be offered separately.

7. Disclaimers & liability

The App and website are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from the App or these Terms is limited to the amount you paid for your licence. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

8. Refunds

Refunds are handled under our Refund Policy.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction], without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
